off to see the Emperor tonight..

Off to see Emperor the stag tonight at The Underground Theatre in Eastbourne. Also hovering on the musical radar like an alien craft above the skies of Roswell is the sheet music that Beck is trying to pass off as his latest album. Great idea? Death of the author etc? Or did he just think 'You know what I can't be bothered with this anymore- let them do it for once' Well of course it wasn't the latter, silly me. I'm looking forward to seeing how our musical interpretation sounds!
Also Andy Weatherall's new album looks like a definite purchase. 'Masterpiece' (Ministry of Sound) remixes indie stuff and dance into a 'coherent whole'.Sounds good to me!

Q Club musings

Well everythings gone crazy this week what with Christmas coming up. I only just remembered that I'm going to see The Hobbit this week and would have missed it if someone hadn't reminded me! Quel horreur! Anyway I've manged to double book myself on a few things so.... Laurent Garnier was an enjoyable night out although I wouldn't say it was banging and suffered from a definite lull mid session. At first I thought it was Q Club heaven but I guess my heart probably belongs to Drum&Bass and nothing else will do! Does anyone out there remember the Q club in Birmingham? Does it still exist? You know it's got to be good when you travel up from London every other weekend to go there.

A pot of your finest English tea please!

Have spent the morning infusing in a delightfully English pot of post romantic/early 20th Century composers as I have been writing a review. It was very evocative of a bygone era, very gentle and lyrical and I love Peter Warlock's 'Capriol Suite' ever since performing it at a music summer school concert years ago. Well, I thought, this is all very balanced as the 'yin' of this mornings listening will be sharply contrasted with tonight's 'yang' ie Applesauce feat. Laurent Garnier. You can't have shadow without light.....'you're not going to start chanting are you?' Johnny Utah asked Bodi in 'Point Break' well I might!

aaarrrgggh hectic

...and so gearing up for Monsieur Garnier on Friday. Been listening to a bit of Shy FX Goldust Remix which is nice'n lively. Also a bit of Prince Fatty, Boom Bip and some various podcasts. Got to dash though- everythings gone cwayzy with Christmas etc!!

'Well I ask for a car and I get a computer, how's that for being born under a bad sign?' and so uttered Mr Ferris Bueller and I have to say I'm kind of feeling his predicament. I ask for 'light and sunny' and I  get chilled out and downbeat... not the same thing at all...YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! That's not to say I didn't like your suggestions... already got Roscoe-Midlake not sure about The Tallest Man yet. I did like the John Carpenter- esque vibe of College and Electric Youth's-A Real Hero. Although it has reminded me that I said I was going to get the Assault on Precinct 13 theme as my ring tone about 5 years ago and I still haven't done it!! Keep your suggestions a-coming!

Well it looks as though I took an accidental tun and fell off the blogosphere... anyway im back now and clutching tickets not only for 'Emperor the Stag' but also Applesauce feat. Laurent Garnier at Concorde 2, Brighton. That could be an interesting night! Anyway this weeks playlist has included:
